We are excited about our new name Truth2kids and website. For over 15 years we have been known as the Child Evangelism project of Helderberg Outreach, but we decided on a new name which also brings along fresh opportunities. Our vision is to bring the truth of God’s Word to children - through Bible clubs, camps, training of adults and involvement in die community. None of this would be possible without complete dependence on God.
We started the year with 45 Bible clubs in various schools, preschools and communities. We also had big plans for camps, etc.....But, with the lock down because of the Corona virus pandemic, we had to think of new, innovative ways to fulfill our mission. This in turn, brought about many new opportunities for involvement and relationship building in communities.
We were able to send digital messages to many people and also started to make our own series of short video messages communicating spiritual lessons on the children’s level. Teachers of some of the schools where we usually work, sent the videos on class groups and other volunteers are sending it to children as well.
We have asked for sponsorships for food parcels, and were blessed to receive money specifically for food for the needy from the Netherlands. This enabled us to distribute more than 900 food parcels, including Christian literature, in areas like Lwandle, Macassar and Strand where it is desperately needed. One of the principals of a preschool said, “God bless you guys, you might think this is a little support but to the beneficiaries it makes a huge difference, I wish you can be with me when I deliver and see the joy and happiness in their faces.” There is still a huge need, as many jobs have been lost because of the economic impact of the pandemic.
We are also involved at soup kitchens in Sir Lowry’s Pass where many children are being given soup as well as a Bible message every day. We are also providing vegetable garden “starter kits” for kids. This includes egg boxes with seeds, potting soil as well as instructions that explain how they can start their own gardens. It is precious to see the excitement of the kids as they come and show their first sprouting seeds. We are now able to start Bible clubs again. At this stage some children are going to school on alternative days. This provides the opportunity for us to have small Bible clubs on the mornings that they are not going to school. (With adherence to strict Covid-19 procedures with social distancing, masks and sanitizing.) Please contact us at truth2kids@gmail.com if you want to become involved through prayer, financial support, or practical help with Bible clubs, etc.
